In the Summit and Exhibitions of Private Sector R & D Centers which have been organized by Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, the best R & D Works of the year were awarded. In the ceremony which has been held on 14 October, Kordsa Global which came first in the General Sort Category of 4th Private Sector R & D Centers’ Summit, was awarded for the first place in the Textile category in the same summit for the third time.
The Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology organized the Summit and Exhibition of the Private Sector R & D Centers this year for the fourth time. To the fair which has been held on October 14, leading companies which carry our R & D activities in many sectors have been participated. In the ceremony which has been held in Sheraton Ankara Hotel & Convention Center with the participation of Fikri Işık, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, the best R & D activities among the sectors were also awarded. Kordsa Global that is the world’s leading manufacturer of nylon and polyester yarns, cord fabricand single code, was awarded to 2 award together including all sectors and the first place of the textile sector in accordance with the data released at the summit. At the summit, Cenk Alper who is the COE of Kordsa Global received the award from Minister Fikri Işık. Işık appreciated the works of Kordsa Global which is the R & D champion of the year of 2015 in the area. Award which has been offered by the Ministry aims tos hare new Technologies and achievement of the outcomes which occur as a result of the studies which have been conducted in the R & D centers within the year. Among the all sectors and in particular in the textile sector in the R & D area with this award, Kordsa Global embraced the sixth prize including three awards. Cenk Alper who is the COE of Kordsa Global who makes assessment of the award said those: ‘As Kordsa Global, with our inventions and our R & D works, we are proud to be selected first among the all sectors which have been witnessed an intense competition. As an industrial company, we are interested for 42 years with R & D. Since 2007 we make our works in a systematic way within the framework of R & D center. *Kordsa Global R & D Centers performs collaborations with the universities in Turkey and abroad to maintain the leadership of the technology. Now we are talking technology licensing within the concept of ‘open innovation’ in the context. Our competitors have requested to use our technology. We are trying to produce its economic model. We will make the export of the technology to our competitors not only to our subsidiaries. We believe this is a very important step for Kordsa and Turkey. We want to be leading in R & D in the Turkish industry. We would like to thank Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology because of founding as valuable for this honourable award. Our aim is to transform the new inventions which arise from R & D works that we have seen as a steady job into new and innovative products and offer them to the whole world.’
İbrahim Yıldırım who is the CTO of Kordsa Global found the following assessments after the award: ‘Our priority is the efficient work of our Kordsa Global R & D Center. We are very happy to be successful in this area and to be deemed worthy to these two awards. To get the first prize among the textile and all sectors is a sign of our consistent and stable operations. In our Kordsa Global R & D Centers, we develop new product, process and Technologies oriented to tires, construction and the reinforcement market of the new products.The majority of our R & D works aim to add new Technologies and capabilities to the ındustry.We produce the technology from Turkey to the World in our R & D center with a total of 78 employees. Since 2008, the number of new products that we offer to the market exceed the number of 12. The patent portfolio that most of them are international together with our applications have been reached to 236. We also rised four places at once in the Turkish Patent League that we rank as 10th place in the last year as a result of these efforts, we had the honor of taking the 6th row with the 14 applicants in the first six months. There come the projects next that are related to the composite materials for us. We established our Composite Strengthening Business Unit April 2014. We laid a foundation of Composite Technology Excellence Center in Technopark in Istanbul together with Sabancı Univesity in December 2014. We will present the composite products that will be used in aviation, sports, automative, maritime and construction sectors to the World by developing in and producing in Turkey.’
