The agreement between Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Textile Technologies and Designand Lectra was realised at ITU Gümüşsuyu campus.
The education collaboration between ITU and Lectra has been materialized with the signatures of Dean Prof. Emel Önder Kararoğlu on behalf of ITU Faculty of Textile Technologies Tek
and Design and Regional Director Jean-Patrice Gros on behalf of Lectra. Extending her appreciation to Mine Yurdagel, Prof. Cevza Candan and Tuğçe Uluaşk for their contribution and support in the matter of this education collaboration, Dean Prof. Dr. Emel Önder Kararoğlu said: “Lectra administration’s decision on sharing their technologies with us and our students in the meaning of developing both fashion design and textile engineering programs, information and abilities of our program students have made us happy. In this context, I underline the fact that our Faculty is the correct answer in respect of pursuing Lectra’s education policies, and I congratulate all the parties who contribute to the education of the youth population.” In the framework of agreement, Koledo will be incorporated into the education program of ITU Fashion Design Department and Kaledo solutions will be made available to the students in the university laboratories. Thus, Istanbul Technical University Fashion Design Department students will have the opportunity of entering upon a career by knowing Kaledo, which is the most common software in the field of fashion and ready-made clothing. As well as the incorporation of Kaledo into the education program; the work commenced with an intent to create a centre where the students can be supported while studying their portfolio and preparing for the contest will be expanded with sector-student meetings and mutual organizations in the future. Having a history of 240 years, Istanbul Technical University currently presents one of the highest-quality education of our country to more than 30.000students.Founded in 2004, the Department of Fashion Design has been realising its education and R&D activities in the framework of cooperation formed between the Rectorship of Istanbul Technical University and Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT, New York) within New York State University. Completing some part of their education at FIT-New York, the students are awarded a diploma having the authentication of both universities.
