Durst that performs continuous R&D studies in the fields of Graphics, Ceramics and Textile targets to be the most important player of the different sectors with its new solutions.
Distributor of Turkey of the Durst, Saatçioğlu presented its solutions in the field of textile to the taste of the visitors at the ITM Fair organized in Istanbul. Having made significant investments in the digital textile market in the last years, Durst attracted great liking with its new solutions. Serdar Saatçioğlu answered our questions with regard to the ITM Fair and the innovation of Durst.
You participated in the ITM Fair. Did the fair meet your expectations?
ITM 2013 was an extremely important fair for us. Because, the rotation in the textile transforms into digital printing slowly. That brings many advantages together with it. Textile is a new branch for us. There is a new machine which we introduced to the market last year. That machine was upgraded and presented at the ITM Fair. It became a machine that provides more performance in many respects. It works with an excellent performance right now. We also upgrade the software and its speed. It will become the most important and the most ambitious machine in the sector soon. Durst is a very innovative and researcher company. At this point, it utilizes the latest technology very well. I think that we will come to a very assertive position in the field of textile in a short time as we are assertive in the fields of graphics and ceramics. Within this time, we gained considerable experience for the textile sector. Textile is a multi-aspect sector. Preliminary processing of the fabric is very important. There are different types of fabric. The R&D department of Durst conducts a very significant study in the area of textile. The new CEO Cristoph Gamper attaches extreme importance to the area of textile. The number of the factories of the Durst increased to 3. Having forecasted that the area of textile would develop, Durst made a decision to expand its Brixen Facility. We have introduced the machine 340 to the market in the area of textile. Its tests are being conducted. We will present the most developed machine which will be able to make printing between 2 thousand and 4 thousand square meters at the ITMA Fair in 2015. We reached to the last stage in the R&D studies with respect to that machine. Durst will be a very important player of the market of Turkey in the following years.
How will you see the future of the market of the textile? What are your expectations regarding this market?
The future of the textile will be 50 % digital within 5 years. More than 50 machines with various brands were installed only in the Bursa Region. Technology renews itself each passing day. The difference of the textile is that it has an integrated system. There are preliminary processing, printing and drying and steaming. A company does not have the chance to provide all sorts of solutions. As Durst, our area of specialty is the digital printing section. Thus, textile is an area on which it must be worked. The same problems were encountered also in the area of graphics. The graphic printing used in the outdoor advertising is not a system which will be obtained by pushing on a machine button. It is needed to prepare ICC profiles. You must determine the printing quality depending on the material. For that reason, the user must have a background. That system is recognized in the area of graphics. It will also be recognized in the area of textile.
You invited all your customers in various sectors for them to see the technology at the facilities of the Durst. Does that program continue? In addition to this, would you give information about the process in the Durst Turkey entity?
From the second half of 2013, I would like to introduce the new technologies of Durst to the customers more closely. At this point, we introduce ARED management, sector companies and you to the factory of Durst for you to see the technology in accordance with the program to be determined.
How did you find the visitor population at the ITM Fair?
Textile sector has in fact great knowledge accumulation and experience. It knows the infrastructure very well. They know the material and the machines very well. Besides, they have a very distinguished customer population. Turkey offers solutions to all international brands in the field of textile. I believe that the task of textile as being a locomotive for Turkey will continue in the following years.
FESPA Eurasia Fair and 15th Sign Istanbul Fair will be organized in Istanbul in the following months. Will Saatçioğlu participate in these two fairs?
We plan to take place at middle size stands in both fairs. FESPA Uurasia will be a fair that will be related to a certain region. I mean it will be centered in Turkey, and the visitors and the participants of the surrounding countries will come. The first fair is very important. Sign Istanbul is a tradition for us. We do not have the luxury of not participating in that fair. We gain many benefits from that fair. We cannot ignore that it brings the sector together and the contribution that it made to the sales. In order to make each unit of the sector survive, we must attend that kind of activities. Sign Istanbul Fair is always more important to us. For this reason, we will continue to support the Sign Istanbul Fair.
Turkey is in a fast growth process in every field. What kind of contributions will this growth make to our country and to our sector?
I think that some of the commercial centers in Europe will be directed to Turkey in the next period. Especially when this new airport is completed, Frankfurt will have no significance left. A large part of all connections will be conducted over Istanbul. Thus, we will find the opportunity to make more trade. Moreover, the areas of sale of the existing distributor companies will be broadened. Istanbul will be an international trade center. After the completion of this infrastructure and the projects, we will be far ahead of the West in certain areas. The first priority in the development is the training for production and the second priority is to export. The more we export, the more we develop. When the political fluctuations are settled down at a certain point, the future of Turkey looks very bright. Turkey must stand decisive and strong at certain issues. Especially Southeast Anatolian Project is very important for Turkey. It is a project which should never be abandoned.
Do you have a message that you want to give finally?
I thank you as you have listened to us. I appreciate you and your team because of your works. I wish all of us successful days.
