Carrying out production and marketing activities for 20 years, Promar Endüstriyel Kimyasallar is aiming to increase their efficiency in their production by offering chemical and lubrication solutions for their customers. Promar Endüstriyel Kimyasallar Coordinator Zafer Karkaç informed us about his works and the sector.
Can you tell us about the products that your company released to the market and their qualities?
“We started providing especially PROSIZE group liquid and dust sizings, silicone based softeners along with special products in the finishing special for PES fabrics last year in the field of textile. In the lubrication group, knitting machine oils produced with base oil produced through new technologies under the brand of LUBRITEX A PLUS are released into the market. This product, which is produced with synthetic white oils, has a cost advantage and thus helped us make significant progress towards performance and cleanability.”
What kind of contribution do textile chemicals make for textile products? Where do the chemicals stand within the textile sector?
Textile chemicals, especially when they are considered as auxiliary chemicals, do not have much effect on the cost of the end product in terms of percentage, however it can be quite beneficial in terms of added value. While using the correct product has a direct impact on the quality of the end product, talking firstly about the costs of these products unfortunately creates contrast.”
What should be done for environmental and human health? What does sustainability mean for you?
“As Promar we have been conducting works in compliance with the Responsible Care Commitment voluntarily for many years in all of our processes by giving importance to Environment, Human and Technical Safety. In this context, we are a company that is certified within the scopes of ISO9001 along with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 1800. We are based on the idea “Clean environment is fundamental for the health and welfare of humanbeings” and try to act in accordance with the responsibilities of being a chemical producing company bring about. “
What is the qualified staff condition of the sector? What are your thoughts on this and what should be done?
“It is a fact that it is difficult to find qualified employees and unfortunately this is not a problem special to our sector only. It will be very classic but it can be solved through education and actually it is a subject that you can have long-term feedbacks.”
When we consider the world chemical industry, where does Turkish chemical industry stand? What are the trends in textile chemicals?
“Even though Chemical Industry constitutes an important part of our economy, it does not get its deserved place due to being a developing sector that is dependent on importation. It is important especially for Turkey to start supporting the works on producing high value added chemicals that cannot be produced in Turkey and imported. We think decreasing its share in importation, increasing its share in exportation and producing chemicals with high price per unit and with high added value.”
How do you see the sector in the forthcoming period?
“I can say that we are in the vaguest periods in this matter. While political developments change in the geography we live in fast enough to surprise the politics experts, long term anticipations cannot be more than mere wishes. Stillness in the western economies, political unrest in the other neighboring countries as well as the countries we trade with, subjects in our country such as elections and peace processes create an equation with multiple variables. It is certain that the upcoming period will be more difficulty; therefore we will need to pass it with products of high added value, creating new job opportunities with least damage and act more dynamically. The time flies more expensively and faster than ever before.”
