Epson, having a 75-year history, started to work with watch production and Epson watches were used in the Olympics organized in Tokyo, 1964 for the first time. Epson, turning into electronic printers together with watch production, has taken its place in our global world as Electronic Printer Son. Yuken Tanabe, Epson New Markets Manager and Özgür Özata, Pro-Graphics Channel Manager, have answered our questions about the developments in textile sector, in particular.
Can you mention about working principles of Epson?

What do you want to tell about the technology you use in digital printing?
There are Piezo technology and thermal technology in digital printing. Piezo technology is a technology which we have found and used. Colour quality and colour resolution is pretty high compared to the other technologies since the ink reaches the fabric by direct injection. We can present more colour options due to the fact that we do not boil the ink thanks to the technology we use. This technology provides the stability in colours, too. More colour options can be presented to the designer. Therefore, digital printing is being preferred in the businesses that are working oriented to quality. Dissolution in printing andcolour unclearness can be occurred because thermal technology boils the ink. We produce 15 million printing head per year. We have personal printers and wide format digital printing machines in our pretty wide product portfolio. ‘In addition, we produce 4-5 type inks used in printing. The main subject we mostly care about is to make the printing quality stabilized. We also produce 4-5 type inks used in printing.’
What do you expect from textile sector?
‘Textile workers have inclined to digital printing as a result of the developments in textile sector if we look into digital printing process in sector. There fore, we also have to take plane in the field of digital printing due to the demands coming from textile producers. First of all, small businesses started to do this job, and then the leading companies of the sector have inclined to digital printing. There is a huge infrastructure for textile in Turkey. We have already reached advantageous sales figures in digital. If we deal world textile industry, we will see that the rate of digital printing sector is % 1-2. Now, we aim at providing satisfied customers rather than reaching advantageous sales figures. So we pay attention to partner choice. Our partner here produces solutions for its customers and makes enormous contributions to form satisfied customer concept. We aim at %40 market in textile sector. We think that progressingstep by step is much healthier. Selling much will have no meaning unless we help the problems of our customers. Our partners here dramatically support us within this respect. We wish to make sales as much as we provide service and quality-oriented. Our intended population is quality oriented customers. We think that the demands of designers are very important. The demands of them off are naturally very high. We are open to these demands. We can print on various fabrics in consequence of the work we have made. Digital printing technologies are more appropriate for small and medium sized productions. Epson is very sensitive to health and environment. There are not harmful materials to both human health and environment in our products. We produce our own dyes because we can control them more easily. We have EKO-Tex certificate.’
What do you want to tell about Turkish technical industry and technical assistance subjects?
‘Turkey is a very big country. You are supposed to stand by your customers. Tecpro has been making our Turkey distributorship and authorized service. The important point here is to analyse how a machine is needed by our customer rather than selling the machine. We prefer our customers’ making tests and try the machines before selling the product because the difference of our brand and company is seen in this process. We can control our all products closely. We have guarantee for two years. Service has been provided by Tecpro 7/24. We have a qualified team. We know the importance of the advantage of having the same brand from head structure to Producer Company and special textile dyes of the products developed by Epson and providing service with authorized distributor and the authorized service within the same establishment.
