There are many technology related exampleswhich drives tomorrow’s fashion. And the airbag for cyclists is just one of them…
It was created by Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin. The designers say that they were tired of traditional hard plastic designs of helmets that were unfashionable and ruined their hair. Accordingly, the pair began to work on aneck-worn system in 2005, and over the years they engineered, refined and tested the system which can monitor a cyclist’s movements more than 200 times a second using an inbuilt computer, sensors and gyro. This neck-worn system pops open within millisecondswith a fully-inflated airbag ready to absorb the shocks of impact, if it senses a collision. The airbag is designed like a hood and made in an ultra-strong nylon fabric that won’t rip when scraped against the ground. It protects nearly all of the head, while leaving the field of vision open.It is stated that the inflated airbag covers a much larger area than a traditional cycle helmet, and that it was designed according to current accident statistics. The pressure remains constant for several seconds, making it able to withstand multiple head impacts during the same accident. After that the airbag slowly starts to deflate. The pair have also come up with a series of fashionable color designs for the collar…
I wish you all a very happy new year!!!
